HORNBY SCHOOL.

The annual distribution of prizes r.-.id school treat to the childreu altendi. ~' l-o Hornby School took place on Friday , e\,-v----noon in a paddock kindly lout by Mr ixo.:son. A marquee belonging to the Islington lfactorv was 'erected on the ground for the use of the children, and Mr Smith of Ckristehurch catered. Mr Monson congratulated the teachers and children on the excellent results of the examination. The prizes were presented by Mr Spicer (Chairman) and Mr Monaon. The followiug is the prize list: — Standard V.—Leonard BigUeui and Gilbert Hardaker. Standard IV.—May Chancy, Sam McKnight, Edward Ncwtou, Jack Watson. Standard 111. — Minnie Piper, Kn.na Haynes, Dolly Brown, Mary Blake. Standard * 11. —Nellie IJo.swi-H, Jc3sic Haynes, Nellie Jackson, Bei i Sheenan. Standard I.—Oiivc'Butler, rd«ud Butler, Henrietta Corbett. Minnie Dixon. Sewing—Standard IV. — May Chancy. Standard lll.—Emma Haynes, Mary Blake and Dolly Brown (Miss Durey's pri/.e). Standard* ll.—Jessie Haynes and Nellie Boswell. Standard I.—Olive Butler and Henrietta Corbett. Infanta—Jessie Tuft and Annie Chancy. AH the children below the first Standard also received prizes. Three hearty cheers were given for Miami Mrs Monsou tor the kind use of their p-uldock.
