AUCKLAND NOTES.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 19. ■At Ellerslie this morning Uhlan and Nestor ran the Cap distance, the last named holding his companion safe at the end of the journey. Mantle proved too good for Pegasus at the business end of a strong mile and a half run in fair time... Pegasus walked a trifle lame on being pulled up. St. Paul, with Pirate to assist him in the first mile, was galloped a strong mile and three-quar-ters, Knight of Athol joining the Cup colt the last seven. furlongs. St. Paul, who -went well, maintained an even pace throughout, and finished up his task well. Solitaire, Dauntless, and Mars were associated in a good working gallop twice round, the last mile being run at a good pace, but Solitaire tailed off at the finish. Mars is a very determined goer.
