FEATS WITH THE BALL.
The match between the Hawera and Star clubs was brought to a conclusion at Hawera on December sth, when the former won by three wickets. In the losers second innings, Grind rod made 46, Collins 37, McCarthy 22, Warden 15 and Ramsbottom 12. For Hawera, Crawshaw contributed 13, Dr. Westenra 20, Pratt 13 and Syme 10. The Nelson Wanderers beat Nelson in a Senior Championship match at Nelson, on December sth, by seven wickets. Scores : Nelson 56 (Levien 11 and Lines 10), and 59 (Trask 19 and Silcock, junr., 12); Wanderers 70 (H. Knapp 17, S. Fowler 16, and J. Eden 11) and 47 for three wickets (S. Fowler 17 not out and T. Eden 14 not out). J. Price and T. Newth bowled well for the victors, and Lines for the vanquished. ""On "the sameTday Nelson College beat Wakefield by 17 runs. Scores:—College 62 (H. Pearless 15, F. O'Beirne 11, andC. Broad 10) and 42 (E. Mules 10) ; Wakefield 25 and 75 (E. Kerr 15, W. Fowler 23, and C. Baigent 12). Broad and Peerless for the College and Fowler and Kerr for Wakefield bowled well.
