ROAD BOARD.
LINCOLN. The ordinary meeting of the Lincoln Board was held on Monday. Present —Messrs J. W. Overton (Chairman), P. Henley, P. J. Fryer, H. E. Peryman, and J. Sinclair. Letters were read from the Land Tax Department relative to subsidy. From the Colonial Secretary's Office notifying that the boundaries of the new subdi\ isions of the district were gazetted. From the Ranger explanatory of his actions in respect to issuing summonses. A petition was received from Mr Crooks and others praying the Board to shingle eighty-two chains of White and Leadley's road from the railway to Dunlop's corner. The Clerk to reply, regretting the Board's inability to comply with the request during the present financial year. Mr and Mrs Chesmar attended and asked if the Board intended dismissing the Ranger, as he was a constant annoyance to them. The Chairman explained that. the Board could not do without a Ranger,. and unless more could be proved against the present man they need not change. He was there to prevent people from grazing the roads, and if they persisted in'doing so they must put up with the consequencesi Re the petition to form a portion of the Drain road, the Clerk reported that Messrs Peryman and Sinclair were the only members present at the appointed meeting, and they decided to call for tenders for the work. Mr Fryer took exception to their action. The tenders were opened and, after considerable discussion, a modification of the work was partly agreed to and the matter left for the Chairman to deal with. The Clerk's report was considered. Resolved that heads and eggs of blackbirds, sparrows, larks, and finches be purchased, during the season at 2d per doz; that. the Clerk advertise that all persons found cutting the grass on the roads without the Board's permission would be prosecuted. Accounts, £95, were passed.
