ARRIVAL OF THE GOTHIC.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TKLTSGRAM.) Wfir,LtKGTON, October 19. The sfceamer Gothic from London, via the usual way ports, arrived at 5.15 a.m., after an uneventful passage. She brings 155 passengers for all ports. On the date on ' ■which Queen Victoria completed her record reign all the passengers met in the saloon to wish her long life and happiness, .and the National Anthem was niost lustily sung with njany cheers. Passengers for Lyttelton—Saloon—Misses Cholmondeley, Gossett, Hillborne, Little, Telford, May (2), Griffiths/Small, Mesdaraes Gosset, Hawdon, Little, May, Harris, Yen. Archdeacon Cholmondeley, Dr. G. Gosset, [ Messrs Greenwood, Hawdon, Little, May ; (S), Small, Harris. Steerage — Misses Andrews, Chimery, Terris (3), Jones, Prentice, Mesdame3 Atkins, Colville, Ferris, Jones, Paveley, Mole, Marshall, Messrs Andrews, Atkin3, Colville, Foulis, Terris ] (3), Forrester, Hammett (2), Kane, Parrott, Swaine, Sprott, Urquhart, Wulff, Mole, Marshall. Captain Sowden, who for some time .was chief officer of the Gothic, and latterly, had charge of the Doric, came out by the Gothic 1 this trip virtually as extra officer! Hβ returns by her to take, command of the j Company's new steamer. Mr Inman, for many years purser of the Gothic,, is now in a similar position on the Doric. In addition to the death of Mr W. A. Tiddy, a passenger by the Gothic to Wellington, a steerage passenger named Mr Namshaw, bound to the Cape, also died on the voyage. The cause of death was heart dis- ' ease. i
