SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the West Christchurch School Committee was held on Tuesday. Present—Mr W. McClea (Chairman), and Messrs G. Tombs, G. T. Chisnall, HV Curlett, J. Isbister, G. Watson, H. C. Godfrey and F; W. Sahdford. The piano recently purchased was delivered at the school, having been cleaned and received aome slight repairs ab the hands of Mr Sandford, to whom the Committee passed » vote of thanks. A deputation was appointed to wait upon the Board of Education with reference to the uusatisfactory state the playground gets into in the winter. The Committee agreed to vote a small sum for swimming prizes for boys and girls out of the Bath Fund. The headmaster mentioned he had received a donation from Mr Godfrey for swimming prizes for the boys, and the Committee passed a vote of thanks to him for it.

The regular meeting of the New Brighton School Committee was held on Tuesday. Present—Messrs Winoey, Marshall, Sefton, Owles, Wills and W. Moor. " The Master's report showed the number of children to be 201. It was resolved that the Committee make arratigments with the Trustees of the Wealeyan Church for the use of the building during the additions to the school. It was resolved that having considered the complaints referred to on February 25th as regards, the school discipline, and having heard Mr Bishop in explanation, this Committee, does not consider them ■of sufficient importance to be classed as school discipline.
