SYDENHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Aα ordinary meeting of the Sydenham Borough Counoil was held last evening. Present—The Mayor, and Crs. Billclifle, Hirjzell, Oiygiil, Muffetfc, Clifford, McLennan, Culler, Large, and Manhire. Leave of absenoe was granted to On McMillan. Correspondence was received from the. Navy League aekiug for the assistance of the Council. From ihe Canterbury Rugby Union, and also from the Sydenham Foot* ball Club asking permission to use the park for matches during the coming season. The letter was referred to the Parks Committee. From the St. Albane Borough Council forwarding copy of a resolution passed by them to the effect " That the Government! attention be drawn to the anomaly exetiag in the Shops and Shops Assistants Act, by which the Oity Counoil is given euch.a preponderance of voting power.'* The St. Albans Borough Council asked the Sj denham Council to endorse/their action. It was decided to receive the letter, and consider the matter with the view of bringing it up before the Municipal AesooiatioD. The Finance Committee reported receipt! £273 Is 2d.
