VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB.

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MELBOURNE, March 9. The Victoria Amateur Turf Uiub has decided to increase the next Caulfield Cup prize money from £2000 to £2500. It is also probable that at the Club's autumn meeting the autumn Cup event will be withdrawn from the progtamme and a new race for £3000 be substituted. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Racing Club, the Secretary reported that the Government refused to issue a totalisator permit for the Easter meeting until the Metropolitan Club had passed the Master-ton-Opaki Club's programme. The Stewards passed a resolution strongly deprecating the notion of the Government, on the ground that they had nothing to do with the quarrel. In the handicaps published yesterday for the Amuri Turf Club'a meeting, Spurned, 9dt 121b, was omitted from the Hurdles. The Akaroa County Racing Club's meeting takes place to-day. Our contributor's selections are as follows :—District Hut die Race, Hero ; Cup, Magazine ; Flying Handicap, Artilleur; District Welter, Du»nlop ; Open Trot, Fantasy or Black Oats ; District Trot, Waldo. Little Jack was omitted from the list of nominations for the Maiden Plate. Acceptances for the Plump ton Park Trotting Club's meeting close to-night.
