February 27. Deap. Cslia.—Last Friday .Mrs Conolly had a very large gathering in her pretty garden for tennis. Among the guests being Mesdames T. Redwood, Vavasour, Stoney, Rogers, Smith, Hubbard, F. Robinson, Orr, Kellas, G. Robinson, P. Douslin, Hiley, C. Earp, Misses L. Clark, Redwood, Grimstone, Cawte, M'Lauchlan (2), E. Carey, Hutchison, Smith (3), Livesay, Horton (2), Kitto, Harkness, &c, Dr. Stack, Messrs Stoney, F. Robinson, G. Robinson, H. Robinson, Bkck, Scott, Beaumont, Mabin, G. Waddy, Wytchell, E. Griffiths, Bunting, H. Horton, W. Baillie, &c. Mrs Conolly wore a pale pink blouse, dark skirt and sailor hat ; Miss Conolly, soft cream spotted blouse, dark skirt and sailor hat; Miss Kate M'Lauchlan looked pretty in pink drill, black lace hat with pink poppies; Mrs Vavasour, black crepon, large black hat with feathers ; Miss Grimstone, cream with large hat and feathers. On Saturday the Misses Smith gave a most enjoyable boating picnic on the river, which was a great success. In consequence of counter attractions there were not so many at tennis as usual, although a pleasant afternoon was spent. Among those present I noticed Meadames Griffiths, Orr, Snodgrass, M'lntosh, G. Robinson, Kellas, Park, Petre, Tosswill, C. Earp, Misses Ferguson, Leech, Kitto, Redwood (2), Bull (2), E. Carey, Messrs G. Robinson, H. Robinson, Black, Bunting, E. Griffiths, W. Baillie and G. Waddy. Mrs Pasley, from Gisborne, is now visiting her daughter Mr 3H. F. Thompson, and all her friends here are delighted to see her once more among them. She is accompanied by her little daughter Madeline, and we hope will remain some time. Eliaxobe.
