AUCKLAND ANNIVERSARY.
(PBESS ASSOCIATION , TJBLKQEAM.) . AUCKLAND, January 29. To-day, being the anniversary of thti colony, is observed as a close holiday. The chief attraction is the regatta. There is splendid weather, but the wind ie too light foi" jbhe eailinjcr races. The regatta shows & ereat falling off iv the amount of money subscribed for prizes, but the entries are very good. The horse races at Takapuna arc attracting a large attendance. The ferry steamers, &c. carried 10,000 people, the railway excursions 2000.
