AMUBULANCE ASSOCIATION.
Last night the Sumner corps of thi Ambulance Association held a moouligh featival. A procession, consisting of thi City Guards, the Stanmore band, the fin brigades from Christchurch, Sumner, Lyt twlton and the Railway, assembled a Morton's Hotel and marched to the Cavi Book, the interior of which was fitted a] with a concert platform and fantastical!; decorated with flags and Chinese lanterns {The Mayor of Christchurch then formally presented the certificates gained by th members of the Sumner Ambulance corps An open air concert was then gone througn Mrs Edgur and Mies L. Thompson sang i very pretty duet; Mr C. Edgar sang i medley and had to respond to a: encortf; Mr Ryan gave a comic recitation tvhioh was encored ; Mr Lovell, who wa in good 7oice, sang a serio-comic ballai with great euccesa, and Mr Fawcett sang i comic song. Mr VValshe played the accompa laments. A swimming race aleo took place but as several protests were lodged the rac ■will be decided this afternoon at th Lancaster Park baths. Refreshments wer provided for the visitors by the lad] members of the Snrauec AmbuiauctiCdui tnittee, in a tent pitched for the purpose QLlie following members of the corpe game certificates :—Mesdames Buttle, Fox, Hey Wood, Glenie, Murray, Partridge, ani Yoong, Misses Allan, Buckingham, Badden A. Budden, Dowding, Drew, Fowlei Henry, S. Henry, Partridge, Tait, Terry Wiggins, E. Wiggiue, M. Wiggins, ant Wadlow, and Messrs A. Eloch, Jennings Jewies, Hill, Phillips, and Young. Ore* credit is due to Mr A. Blooh, the Superin tendenc of the corps, for the excellence o the arrangements. There were severe hundred people pretest) from town, fou trams, with eighteen oars in all, havinj g»ne down.
