TUESDAY'S PRODUCE REPORT.

(BY OTJB COiIMEBCIAL EMTOB.) Very little has beea done in the grain market since we last reported, and nothing of much moment or significance has occurred to affect prices or prospco'.s. Enquiries from outside are very occasional and transactions have been of the cnoec casual nature. Wheat—Values for stocks of old have been gradually casing down, aa is evidenced from the fact that yesterday a line of fiae bold wheat, the bulk of it Hunter's white and balance Tuscan, was sold at the equivalent to 3ssid, f.0.h., Lyttelton. The parcel consisted of some £00 sacks. A few samples of new wheat have been shown, but it is too early yet to quote firm values. One line of new Tuscan is said to have found a buyer in one of the local millers at equal to 3s 2d, f.0.b., Lyttelton, but the first; fow parcols of the season rarely form a sound basis on which to found an absolute correot estimate of opening values. Oats —Stocks of old still continue somewhat heavy, and whilst holders are unable to move these oft they are not inclined to operate actively on the new crop. Only a few lines bere and there have found buyers, as holders do not ac present seem to be inclined to accept the values set upon them by buyers, and which values range from Is 104 to 2s, f.o.b. Oatsheaf Chaw.—For good clean well- — cut chaff, not badly shaken by the wind, a buyers are offering .Aba to 47a 6J, at country stations, according to the distance from town. Several good lots have changed hands on this basis, but it is early yet to >» give firm quotations. Some holders are i) asking 50s, and will not at present sell at st les »- -■y Baklet.—One or two samples have been X. shown, but ib will probably rest with the i< 3 local maltsters to fix opening prices, and this up to the present has not been done. Peas and Beans are not yet being offered, and no indication can, therefore, be given a yet of what current rates will rule. 11 Cape Ba£ley and Rykcobst have both ~ been enquired ior, but only small remnants y * were left over of last season's crop, and the — market ha* been cleared of these. Bamples a " of new have not yet been offered, as far as _ we can learn. i's Ryegrass —Very few lot* of anything _ approaching good seed have so far been c. seen. The bulk of that offered haa been _ light, dirty, and too inferior to deal with j_ for autumn sowing requirements. Italian is rather plentiful, and is offering at from ~ 2i6dto&9df.o.b. Cocksfoot—Small parcels from the plains — have been sold in town at 2fd to 3d. ' Peninsula seed has cot yet come into the — market. ** [Unless otherwise specified, our quotations — are the net prices paid to farmers f.0.b., fo Lyttelton, free of brokerage or commission. » When storage charges are incurred in port they must be allowed for.]
