Mr Grindley went to Wellington by the same steamer. Major Saunders was a passenger by the same steamer. The Rev. Mr Potter wis a passenger for Napier by the same steamer. Mr J. McDonald, Woodend. is in town. Inspector Broham went to Timaru yesterday. Messrs J. Douglas. Waikari; "W. Grant, Timaru; E. D. Giles, Hotsley Downs ; J. Camerou, Greta; J. Marr, Methvt. ; and Mr \V T . Davidson, St. Leonards, were in town yesterday. Mr J. C. Firth and Miss Firth, Auckland, are on a visit to Christchurch. Dr. Macquarie, Melbourne, is paying a visit to Christchurch. Mr A. S. Biss, Wellington, is in Christchurch.
