_«_ Mr W. H. Ataok was a passenger from the South by yesterday's express. The Right Rev. Dr. Grimes left for Auckland by the Takapuna last night. The Roy. Mr Grindley went to Wellington by the same steamer. Major Saunders was a passenger by the same steamer. The Rev. Mr Potter wis a passenger for Napier by the same steamer. Mr J. McDonald, Woodend. is in town. Inspector Broham went to Timaru yesterday. Messrs J. Douglas. Waikari; "W. Grant, Timaru; E. D. Giles, Hotsley Downs ; J. Camerou, Greta; J. Marr, Methvt. ; and Mr \V T . Davidson, St. Leonards, were in town yesterday. Mr J. C. Firth and Miss Firth, Auckland, are on a visit to Christchurch. Dr. Macquarie, Melbourne, is paying a visit to Christchurch. Mr A. S. Biss, Wellington, is in Christchurch.
