MONDAY'S STOCK MARKET.

(ET OCR COMJiEUCIAIi EDITOR.) Addington market on an " off day " is in every sense an "offmarket." Thus we cannob pretend to writo much regarding the sale of yeaterday. The general tv.ttendance was email, and in most cases business »va« conducted under adverse circumstances. The store sheep entry was good, and we are pleased to record that in most cases the business done was of a satisfactory character. [ Forward sheep again sold well, and the prices given in our market report will fully demonstrate how values ruled. We are convinced that all cheep suitable for export and in forward condition must tiud a ready market. As a matter of course the fat sheep supply was not large, buD even then it was larger than trade requirements warranted. Exporters wers not operating with any freedom and competition was practically restricted to " the trade." And in this hot weather " the trade" did not want much. Amongst the sales we noticed wore:— Mr Geo. Rutherford, D.ilethorpe, four and six-tooth wethers average 139 10J, ewes 9a 10J; Mr H. Burrows, Halswell, wethers 13s, ewes 10a ; Mr J. Smithson, wethers 153 Id ; Mr H. Watson, ewes 9j 5d to 93 9d ; Mr H. Farr, ewes 9.i;, Mr J. R. Campbell, wethers 14a 10d to 15s 3d, maiden ewes 11s 2d to 11s 7d x "Mr A; Chamberlain, crossbred wethers 143 7J. Any good fat lambs were in request, and sales were made at figures fully equal to last quotatious. Up to 14*5 6d was "paid for extra prime stuff, but about Us 6d to 133 was a fair average for prime stuff. The beef market ' was by no means animated, and late rates were nob improved upon. A few sales were made at about 21s per 1001i)3 for prime quality, bub cow beef went as low as 143 per 1001b. The pig entry was very small, aud no improvement on last market's rates can be recorded. FuU quotations appear in our market report.
