Experienced fine clear weather, with variable winds and sn.ooth seas generally to Wellington; thick foggy weather on the coast. The Union Company's e.s. Tarawera, Ciptain Sinclair, arrived at 8 a.m. on the 28th inst. from Sydney. She left Sydney at 6 p.m. on the 18th inst. and arrived at Auckland at 2 p.m. on the 23rd inst. ; left at 3 p.m. on the 24th, called at Giaborne and Napier, and finally left Wellington at 4.50 p.m. on the 27th inst., arriving as above. Experienced fine weather and smooth seas throughout the passage. The s.s. Wakatipu arrived yesterday afternoon from Wellington with a large number of passengers. She remained in Port till the arrival of ihs 3 30 train, and thau took her departure for Duuediu. The fine Calcutta trader Mount Sirion, Captain Spiuks, arrived on Saturday evening from Calcutta via Northern porls, and was berthed at the Gladstone Pier, where she will be buey to day discharging cargo. The New Zealand Shipping Company's fine ship Waimate, Captain Worster, sailed on Saturday afternoon for London. She went straight away to eea, and by night time had obtained a good offin*. The Wellington yacht Waitangi arrived in Lyttelton yesterday afternoon to compete in the champion race on New Year's Day.
