FRIDAY'S PRODUCE REPORT.
(BY OUR COMMERCIAL EDITOB.) It seems now fair to assume that there is comparatively little grain left in grower*.' hands in Canterbury, and this is borne out j by the very small quantity that is being I brought into town. No doubt tbe few ro ■naming holders have been during the past week or so rather diaheartened by the indifferent tono shown by buyers, but with local millers full for the time being, and an absence of outside demand, this position is a perfeotlv natural ono. Hand to mouth business ia quite the order of tho day juat now, and we can hardly look for any likely improvement until after the turn of the year. Business in grain has centred mainly in Oats of late, but has been rather restricted even iv this. Chaff has received fair attention. Shipping parcels have beeu operated in at 60s and 62a 6d, whilst smaller lots for town trade have been realising up to 653. Very Ultle attention has beeu paid to other varieties of either grain or produce, and the market values to-day stand aa under : — Wheat-Prime Tuscan .. .. 3sßidto33 9d Good milling do 3s7'dto3sßd Prime Hunter's .. .. 3« So to 33 bid Good milling do. .. .. 3s 6id to 3s 7J d Prime Pearl .. .. 3s 9d to 3s lOd Oats—Heavy milling .. .. 2s to 2s Id Good short feed .. .. 2s Long varieties .. .. 1* 3d to Is lOd Dmis .. ..
