THE NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM.

The following particulars regarding the members of the N.S. W. cricket team, who will try conclusions with a Canterbury Eleven on Saturday week, have been handed to us for publication by the Hon. Sec. of the New Zealand Cricket Council.

Manager — Alderman John C. Waine, Moore Park, Sydney; Alderman for the largest city ward, Cook division of City Council.

Sydney B. Waiford—Captain of the Central Cumberland C.C In 1892-3 played against Queensland for N.S. W. and scored 27. Picked twelfth man against Adelaide, season 1893-4. Has reached the century eighteen times, highest being 307, 150, 134, 123. Average all matches, season 1894 5, twenty-nine innings, 37.17. Scored century three times—l 34 v Manly, 114 v Paddington, 112 v Penrith. Principal scores this season, 61 not out, 37, 7, 6, 74, Wednesday matches. First Eleven matches, 54, 19, 307 (v Eyde), and 70. Played v English teams four times with Parramatta and District; went to the wickets eight times, average 18 ; principal scores 51 and 37. He will probably be captain of the team. Visited New Zealand with the last team (Joe Davis's).

L. T. (Jobcroft—Captain of Glebe Elec torateC.C. Bight hand bat, Age twentyfive. Splendid field, good change bowler. Average last season 18. 81 for thirteen innings in Premiership matches. This season— 30 and 31 against fifteen members Glebe C.C, 31 v Bur wood, 141 v Gladesville, 26 v Central Cumberland, 16 v Paddington. David J. Noonan—Member of the Waverley Electorate C.C. Age nineteen. This season's batting—o v Paddington, 107 not out v Burwood. This season's bowling —v Paddington five for 33, v Burwood five for 24. Left hand bat and bowler, medium to fast.

Joseph C. Wilson—Member of Central Cumberland C.C. Played against Lord Sheffield's team with Eighteen Farramatta and District; scored 34 nob out; obtained four wickets for 35 runs. Flayed against Adelaide in 1892; made 15 not out. Last season's averages—All matches, 17.83; bowling, all matches, seventy wickets, 10.28.- r\ This .season's principal ■ scores z Wednesday matches, 72 not out—4s; First Eleven matches, 88, 53, and 26; bowling, ten wickets for 130. Is a left hand medium pace bowler. Good field. S. W. Austin—Member of Waverley Electorate C.C. Bight hand bat and bowler. This season's performances : — v Paddington, batting, 13 and 9; bowling, nine wickets for 81 runs. V Bar wood, batting, one innings 126 ; bowling, four wiskets for 24.

M. Shea—Plays for East Sydney Electorate C.C. Right hand bowler with a free easy delivery. Last year he was third on the list in the Premiership Competition, with the excellent figures of 8 runs per wicket. A fair left-haud bat and a first-class field. About twenty years of age.

Frank Wade—Age 24. Played at Home for Colts v Yorkshire in 1890. Member of the North Sydney District C.C. Good right hand free bat, hits hard and scores from the start as a rule ; sure field and hard worker. Fast right hand bowler, difficult when he gets a length. Average last year, in firstclass cricket, eixteen innings 23.15. L. Poidevin — Member of Glebe C.C. Right hand bat. Last year playing for Glebe in Premiership matches. Had average of 49.2. Was third on liet of averages in local Premiership matches (Iredale first, Garreto second, and Poidevin third.) See Annual Report Book.) In all matches made 1050 runs tor fifteen innings; once retired hurt. Average 70. Made three centuries (one in Premiership match v Redfern (117 not out.) Performances this year—Competition or local Premiership matches, made 14 v Burwood, 88 v Burwood second innings, 109 not out v Central Cumberland, 0 v P*ddington —211 for three innings ; average 70. Was picked to play tor twelve Metropolis v Combined Country on Bth and 9th November. Made 0. Club average this season 80 per innings. Nineteen years old. Good field.

Sid. Callaway—Plays with South Sydney Electorate C.C. Bowie fast, right hand, also bate right hand. He has represented his colony in Intercolonial matches against Victoria, South Australia and Queensland continuously since 1889; represented Australia in Test matches against Lord Sheffield's English team when visiting Australia, and performed well with both bat and ball. Played in one match against Stoddart'e English Eleven (fourth Test match) at Adelaide, when the Australians were victorious, and in which match he secured the remarkable average of five wickets for 37 runs, and obtained 41 and 11 with the bat. In these series of Test matches he headed the bowling averages with an average of 11 runs per wicket. Last season playing with hie Club (South Sydney) he had a batting average of 20 runs per innings and a bowling average of 9 runs per wicket. He has hoc taken patt in many matches this season. Fred Burton—Member of East Sydney. Wicket-keep for the team visiting New Zealand. Has represented as wicket-keep the colony from 1885 to 1890 in intercolonial and international cricket. From 1890 to 1894 was in business in Victoria, and could not spare time to play cricket. Has only played two innings so far this season without losing his wicket—36 not oat, and 9 not out. In the'match v South Sydney, one of tbe strongest clubs, he only allowed one bye to pass out of a score of over 450 runs. This was on October 12th and 19th. Kept wicket for Metropolis v Combined Country on Bth and 9th November. Age about thirty-Sve. Right hand bat. (The same writer promises, by next mail, records of Pryor, whom he regards as the best bat in the team, and Furness, who replaces Lindsay.

The Junior Cap Committee have decided that the Junior and President's Cap competions shall goon as nsnal oaSatarday.out they have declared all matches off on the following Saturday, in consequence of the match between Canterbury and New South Wales commencing on that day.
