JUNIOR CUP MATCHES.
The United Canterbury and Sydenham and Addington United Clubs commenced a match at Hagley Park on Saturday, when the former had a good deal the beet of the day's p'.ay. Scores :— Sydenham 105 (Stephens 19 not out, C. Laurence 18, West 16, Grammer 13, and Jones 12) ; United 177 for nine wickets (Wigley 28, E. J. Ross 24, W. T. D. Harman 23, Day 23 not out, Longtien 18, and T. D. Harman 15): Percy, T. V. Harman and Fish bowled best for the United, aod Stephens, Rowe and Grammer for Sydenham. The Christchurch Boys' High School and Midland teams also commenced a match at Hagley Park, when the boys had somewhat the best of the game. Scores:—Midland 113 (W. G. Garrard 45, Haldane 13, and Evans 10 not out); High School 125 for eight wickets (Sim? 50, Williams 12, Barnes 12 not out, O'Brien 10). Manson, Sims and Harper divided the bowling honours for the School, and Barry bowled beet for the Midland.
Lancaster Park continued its first innings against St. Albans. and scored 103 or 1 more than their opponents' total. Orchard contributed 26 quickly, and Smith 15, Mahar 12 and Washer 11 also reached doubles. In their second attempt the Suburbans appeared quite powerless to score against the good bowling of Bates and Smi h, and were all dismissed for 30. B*tea bowled 72 balls for 6 runs and four wickets, and Smith got five wickets for 18 runs. The Parkitee got the runs required for the loss of three wickets, Smith (16) being chief contributor.
