SATURDAY'S PRODUCE REPORT.

(BY OU- COMME-CIAL EDITOR. There does not appear to have been a vast amount of business done in grain on Saturday. Probably the depressing waather had some effect on the number of farmers who vsntured to town, but, at all events, the sales recorded were quite uuimportant. Wheat—The position has not changed iv any way during the week. If there is any tendency in the market either way, it is rather upwards than otherwise, lhe small quantity offering helping to strengthen the positiou. As a slight counter-influence, the price of South Australian wheat has not advanced, latest quotations from there being 2s lid to 2s ll_d f.0.b., so that our market is kept in check by the possibilities of renewed importations from there. Were it not for this contingency, there is no doubt that our local wheat would at once assume a higher value in buyers' opinions, but until prices firm in Australia, we cannot look for any further advance here. Oats—Business is very quiet and sluggish, and only a hand to mouth consumption is going on, speculators fearing that the resent jump in values was somewhat un-duly inflated, and it may be that it would have been better had the improvement in prices been more gradual and steady. Buyers are offering Is 6i to la 7d for good, short feed, and Is 81 to Is B_d for prime milling. Beans are steady and firm at last quotations, viz,, 2a 3d to 2s 4d at country stations. Peas are very scarce and are in demand at 2s 4d to 2s 6d. Bareey is a shade steadier, but very little demand exists at present, and prices are nominally 2s 6d to 2s 9_. Potatoes are very quiet, and little business is doing. Nominally 22a 6i at country i stations. Chaff 52a 6d to 55?. Ryecorn 2s to 21 _'l. ; Cape Barley 2s 3d to 2s 3_. Tabes 5s to 6s. Ryeghass 2s 6d to- 3s. Cocksfoot 3£d to 4£d. : Coworass 4£d to 6d, according to quality.
