ORANGE ANNIVERSARY.

At the meeting in the Oddfellows' Hall on Friday evening a resolution affirming the undesirabihty of the proposed anion of the Protestant Churches with the Church of Rome was carried unanimously.

The annual church parade took place yesterday. The members assembled at the Oraugs Hall at 2 p.m. Bio. H. Simpson, W.D., Master of No. 4, took charge of the proceedings, and appointed Bro. P.D.M Ditfiu and W. M. Bro. H. Morrow as marshals, and amongst those present were— P.G. Masters Bros. Redpatb, Gebbie and Douglass, the Grand Secretary, Bro. Carey, the S.G. Chaplain, Bro. Dyson, and the R. W. Deputy Grand Master, Bro. Mathers, represented the Grand Lodge. Besides the officers of the two Christchurch districts the fo , - lowing private Lodges were represented—• No. 1, Lin wood ; Nos. 2 and 3, Christcaurch; No. 5, Sc. Allans; No. 6, Belfast; No. 16* Soutfabridge; No. 22, Leeston; No. 24, I Christchuroh ; No. 52, Sydenham ; No. 33, ; Richmond" ; No. 56, Addington ; and Ladies' Lodges Nos. 1, 3, 7 and Southbridge. The Preceptories of the Royal Black Encampments 438 and 510 were also present under their respective officers, Bros. White and TiUeyahort, a great number of the latter Encampment having come specially from Southbridge to take part in the parade. The Sydenham Band, unier Bandmaster McLean, headed the procession to St. Saviour's Church, Sydenham, where the service was attended by about 300 members of the Order. The Rev. E. A. Scott preached a very eloquent and spirited address from the Ist chapter of the Epistle to Timothy, part of the 13th verse, •• Hold fast the form of sound words which thou hast heard of mc in faith and love, which is Christ Jesus." The offertory in the church was in aid of the Nelson Orphanage and the poor of Sydenham. After the service the procession re-formed and marched back to the Orange Hall, where refreshments were pro- '• vided by the district for he country members. A motion of thankr was passed to the Rev. Mr Scott for his address, and a resolution was carried expressing sympathy with the R. W. Grand Master in the matter of the cauee of hi« abtoao*
