Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Loxdon, July 10. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,580,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,440,000 quarters. The American visible supply of wheat is 53,600,000 bushels. A Victorian wheat cargo, ex ship Collessie, has been sold at 23s 9d. New Zealand Trust and Loan Company's shares, £2 10s. The report of Buxton, Ronald and Co., wool brokers, states that the outlook for the wool market is more reassuring than for a long time past. Silver is quoted at 2s 6 9-16 d per oz. Wheat is 6d lower. A Victorian cargo, ex Inveresk, has been sold at j 23s 3d. At the wool sales prices are very firm, and American buyers are competing strongly. The Mamari's cargo of kauri timber was submitted to auction. A portion of the consignment, damaged, was sold at Is 2d to Is 5d per cubic foot, and that not damaged at from 2s to 2s Id per cubic foot. For New Zealand white wood there were no bids, and the consignment was withdrawn. Mr Hotson, of the Newport Freezing Works, Victoria, addressed a meeting of importers at Manchester on Monday. He declared Manchester would be the great port for Australian produce ; and, further, that the colony would reach, through that market, from seven to ten million people to whom it would supply meat, butter, cheese and poultry in qualities the world could not excel and at prices others could not afford to sell at. He suggested that a joint committee should arrange to include the wool market with the Yorkshire factories, and that a new company of steamers trading to the west coast, conducted on mutual lines, was certain to elicit a hearty response. j
