What might have been a most serious accident occurred yesterday. Mr Hinea, of Riccarton, pa leaving the Gloucester street entrance to Mr Coward's stables, was driving towards Colombo street when he ran into a hatcher's cart which was standing on the right side of the road. Toe wheel of Mr Hinea' trap came, in contaot. with the cart with great force, causing the shafts of hie trap to break Q& short. The trap came to a standstill, but the horse still continued its onward course, and Mr Hines, who had a tight hold of the reins, was jerked from the cart some feet into the air, and ca,me down to the ground very heavily.
