Reports from New Zealand (says a Sydney paper), credit several breeders in that colony with a desire to have a law passed imposing a tax on hones imported to the colony. This is suggested to them by the fact that a good many horses have been purchased lately in New South Wales and Victoria fdr- New Zealand, especially trotter*. Several thoroughbred yearlings have gone to New Zealand as well as older horses, bat when it is remembered how much Australian owners have'spent in purchasing New Zealand youngsters, any proposal to impose a tax on Australian horsee seems to be unreasonable. The amount talked of I? £o per head, but possibly theaectioa of people who wast to levy such a charge are not influential enough to have their views adopted In the New Zealand Parliament,
