The remains of the late Mr A. J. Whrte, enclosed in a handsome coffin of poliebeq oak, were removed from hjs late residence at "' Opawa to the Catholic pro-Cathedral M ~ Barbadoee street yesterday morning, . solemn requiem mass waa celebrated. The music was the Gregorian ancient plain song, and was weu rendered by the cbpir, which wa» directed by Mr H. H. Loaghnan and the \ Rev. Father Galerne, S.M, At the offertory Mr Loughnan sang, "Jesu Re* demptor Mundi." Miss Fnnston presided at the organ. His Lordship the BieUop delivered an impressive and eloquent ser* mon eulogistic of the life, of the deceased gentleman, taking his text from the words in the Ist Epistle to the Theesaloniane, chap. iv., ««Brethren, we will not have you , ignorant concerning them that sleep; tow ye be not sorrowful, aa othere are that hare no hope." __. ..
