SATURDAY'S PRODUCE REPORT.

(BY OUR COMMERCIAL EDITOR.) Buyers were not displaying anything like the same keen interest in wheat to-day that they have been showing recently, and it was very evident that a dulnesa had come over the market, and although prices showed no material decline, still there waa a marked disposition to stand oil for a time and await developments. This slackness is probably attributable to the influence of the English markets, whioh from last cable advices are weaker, and, further, the rumoured shipments of Australian wheat and flour to our extreme northern and southern porta naturally tend to depress speculation. A considerable quantity of wheat was offered in town today, but prices asked were as a rule beyond buyers' limits, and only a few transactions were actually recorded. A parcel of pearl changed hands at 3s 4_d, with a railagt* of 2d to Port, aud a mixed parcel was sold at 3s 3d on a 2_d railage. It waa reported that a local miller had given 3s 7d at a station close to town for a prime lot of Pearl only, but whether this report has been verified we are unable to say.

Oats are in good demand just now, the principal call beiug on Tartars, duns and milling qualities, and Is 4d at country stations is now being offered, whilst holders are trying to obtain Is 6d.

Beans are asked for, and command 2s 2d and 2s 3d at oountry stations. Holders are hanging back for higher prices.

Barley shows very little improvement, maltsters being quite oat of the market.

Peas—Prussian blues 2a to 2a 2d, partridge 2a to 2s Id. Other kinda are dearer owiog to scarcity.

Potatoes—Buyers were prepared to do business to-day at 255, but growers in many cases stood oub for more money, and business was restricted in oonsequenco. Several lines were, however, sold at the price named. Chaff—Market steady, and good clean lots realise up to 403 at country stations. C-Oveb.—-Oowgrass unaltered at s_d to 6d. Anything of a specially prime character would probably command 6£d.

Cocksfoot—Market inactive ; prices nominally 3d to 3_i for bright, 2£l to 3d for discoloured.
