DUNEDIN.

Dunedin June 3. Saturday was, from a spectator's point of view, a splendid day for football, but rather too warm for players. Dunedin met and defeated the Pirates by 13 points to 6, after a closely contested and at times very exciting game. Shortly after starting Dunedin, who played with the wind, scored a try under the posta, which was converted by Keogh. From a loose scrum Mason obtained possession and potted a goal and very soon after M'Kenzie followed bis example with a beautiful screw kick. When were changed the Pirates had rather the beat of the play and scored a goal from a penalty kick by M'Cassey and a try scored by Carter. There was no further score on either side. Both Keogh and Stephenson were well watched and consequently did nothing brilliant. Goodson's aud Young's tackling, for the Pirates was very much admired. Kaikorai gained a decisive victory over University, running up 22 points to nil. For the first twenty minutes the' Varsity held their own but seemed to tire after that, aud at the end of the second spell to go all to pieces, the Kaikorai scoring no less than 12 points in tbe last ten minutes. Tries for the winners were scored by Sullivan (3), (who last season played with the Dunedin Club), Duncan, Sinclair and Wilkinson, two of which were converted by Wilkinson. Cran, of the 'Varsity, who has been playing three-quarter lately was back in his old place at half in this match, aud the difference in his play was very noticeable. Besides Cran, M'Donald and Stevens played a good defensive game.

Zingari-Richmond were successful In their match wit h the Uoion, defeating them by 6 points to nil. There was no score in the first; spell, but soon after the commencement of the second, Williamson stole away from a scrum end drew first blood for the Zingari. After being hard pressed by the Union for about twenty minutes a good passing rush from one end of the field to the other let Cunningham scoro the Zingari's second try. Although the kicki were easy ones neither try was converted.. AH the Zingari played a hard game, while Harris, Smith, Gibson and Inarle showed up prominently for the Union. Cavershatn had to put up with yet another defeat at the hands <f Alhambra, who won by 12 points to 4. Ro*tieaux and Esquilant both of last year's team, donned the jersey for the first time this season , for the Alhambra. Thomson (2), Gairdner and Restieaux scored tries for Alhambra, none being converted and Urquhart potted a goal for Carersham.

For the Junior Flag the game between Green Island and Warehousemen resulted in a draw, neither side scoring. University Second defeated Zingari Second by 5 points to 3. Pirates Second beat Dunedin Second by 10 points to 3. Union Second beat Otokia by 15 points to 8. Port Chalmers defeated Kaikorai Second by 4 points to nil. Melrose. beat Caversham Secor.' by 19 points to nil.

The Thistle Association Club were defeated by the Rangers by 3 goals lo 2. Harrap (2), and Peters scored for the Rangers; Borlasse and Carter doing likewise for the Thistle.

Mornington defeated the Northern by 4 goals to 1. Goals were kicked for the winners by Gareide, Kingston, Liddle and Johnstone and Clark scored for the losers.
