Eau Gallic, in the centre, jumped off in front, and crowding plenty of sail was soon clear of Paprika, Harfleur 11., The Nipper, and Telesinus, with Acrobat and Woolathorpe just behind them. At the bushes Eau Gallic was still in clear command, and Paprika remained second into the Abingdon Mile bottom, where she resigned to Estar, Erin, and Telesinus, of whom Estar had no sooner challenged Eau Gallic opposite the stand than he shot away again and won by a length ; a neck between second and third. Telesinus was close up fourth, Acrobat fiflh, Paprika sixth, and Lord George last. Third Day—Thursday, April 18. The Craven Stake 9, of SOOsovs. For three-year-olds. Ard well showed the way for a furlong, when he was passed by Villiers, and the latter came on followed by Ardwell, The Owl, and Cayenne, with Reprobate last. In this order they ran until just below the distance, when The Owl drew clear of Villiers, Cayenne, and Ardwell. Now keeping in front the f -vourite won by a length; six lengths divided second and third. Ardwell was fourth, Reprobate fifth, and Lucy Walters last.
