The Wellington Post reports that the Marine Department has received through the Collector of Customs information that Mr Wilson, of Frankville terrace, Tory street, discovered on the beach at Island Bay, on sth May last, a case containing twenty-four 4'.blius of carbolic powder. This he fancies may have been part of the cargo of the ketch Comet, which is now a month out from Lyttelton to Greymouth. The box bears no marks, but there had evidantly been a label tacked on, and the Department is making enquiries to ascertain whether such a case was amongst the Comet's cargo.
