Brisbane, May 29. The German colonists are preparing a memorial for presentation to the Reichstag and North German Lloyds Company urging that the Company's service should be extended to Queensland. The petition sets out that many German residents are financially largely interested in Queensland, the value of an extensive and growing export trade, the suitability of the colony as a market for German goods and its proximity to German New Guinea. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN LOAN. Adelaide, May 29. The Government is placing on the local market £300,000 worth of 3£ per cent, bonds, being the balance of the loan authorised in 1893. WESTERN AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC WORKS. Perth, May 29. The Minister of Railways announces that the Government will absolutely refuse all concession to syndicates for the construction of public works, as it is the policy of the country to construct and control all waterworks, railways, and tramways.
