Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright London, May 20. Lieut.-General Feilden, M.P. foe Chorley. May 21. The death is announced of Dr. Honeyman, of Auckland.

Major-General Bandle -Joseph Fielden was born in 1824, and entered the army at nineteen years of age. 'He was made a C.M.G. in 1870 for his services in the Bed River Expedition. He retired in 1883. Two years iatee be was returned for Chorley (Lancashire North) by a majority of 2559; in 1886 and 1892 he was returned without opposition. In politics he was a Conservative. . -

Dr. Honeyman was formerly a member of the firm of Hay and Hcneyman, of Auckland, and was son-in-law of the Rev. David Bruoe.

(PBKSB ASSOCIATION TEUEWBAM-I AUCKLAND, May 21. The Rev. Father Downy, of St. Benedict's, Newton, died to-night somewhat suddenly. He has been here twenty yearsj but latterly was in impaired health. H< officiated in Chrietohurch on Sunday week.

Mr 'John Thompson, whose death at Lyttelton, at the .comparatively early age of sixty-two, was recorded yesterday, had been intimately associated with the Port) for a great many years. Hβ served an apprenticeship of seven years to the ship-building trade, and on Attaining his majority decided to visit Australia, arriving there in 1854. The old "seawall" at Lyttelton, and the patent slip, as well as a great deal of the reclamation works at the present railway station yard were carried out by him. Jne Whole of the works under his control were executed with a thoroughness and dispatch whicb gave the greatest satisfaction to his employers. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 3.15 p.m.
