Tbe s.s. Wareatea put out the last of her coal yesterday, and sailed in the evening for Timaru.

The past week or more has been a busy time amongst the shipping at Pert, thanks to tho presence of a few wool ships aud the exceptional number of large steamers that have visited Lyttelton. Yesterday was another busy day, and '■ some difficulty was experienced iv gettingjsujncient men to do the work. This state of ihiugs is of course merely a flash in the pan, and iv the course of another day or two there will no doubt be three men for every oue required. Tlie Shaw, Savili;ahd Albion Company's cargo steamer Mardari was hard.at work yesterday coaling, and taking in the last of her cargo and frozen mutton. She was expected to be a full ship and ready for sailing early to-day. The injuries received by the s.s. Janet Nicoll in tbe late gale have been made good by Messrs J. Anderson, and the steamer is expected to come out of dock to-day, and sail for Westport.' The s.s. Strathofd has completed her loading aud made her final preparations for sea. Sue takes home a full load of wool, la!low, skins, &o. Her sailing for London was postpoued from yesterday till to-day.
