A strange thing occurred at the meeting Of the Watrafapa Relief Fund Committee It bad Been arranged that part - of the robney subscribed should be given to the wife of the man Cree, said to have been drowned in the wreck of the Wairarapa; out since then it iiae been ascertained that XJree was not 'drowned in the Wairarapa, is working in Canterbury. This infer* tnation waa not supplied by Crce. If a man named Cree was dgowued in the VVairatapa jte did not hail from Oamaru.
