ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(raXSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) AUCKLAND, February 3. "William Brothers, a railway guard, was fatally injured yesterday while shunting at Rancimau station, on the Waikato line. Be died shortly before the 'train reached Newmatket. He leaves a wife and three children. He was recently transferred from Napier. It appears that he got jammed by a truck while lifting a flag at the cattle yard. WELLINGTON, February 2. Harry Summers, sailing master of the Lyttelton yacht Pastime, a middle-aged roan, fell down the hatchway of one of the hulks in the harbour last night and broke his neck. He was going on board the - yacht between ten and eleven o'clock, and in order to get to a dingy had to cross the . coal hulk, which was moored to tbb breastwork. In doing so, he fell down an open hutch way, his dead body being found this morning. An inquest will be held to : morrow.
February 3. At the inquest to-day the verdict was "Accidental death," and a rider was added that hatches should be on at night while iltips are lying alongside the wharves. OAMARLT, February 2. John Lawrence committed suicide by drowning himself in the Kakanui River thie morning.
