The following were the Saturday midday quotations:—< Big River, lla to 12s; Builer Dredge, Is 6d to 2a ; Cumberland, Is to Iβ 6d ; Globe, 2s to 3s 6d; Hercules 2s to 2a 3d ; Keep It Dark. 2e; Progress, X4s to 15s; and Alpine/ 7a to 83. The following are the battery ■ returns :—Alpine, 3480z of amalgam from 200 tons; Big River, Mloz amalgam from 170 tons; Cocksparrovr dredge, 32£oz amalgam for 108 hours' work; Globe, 166cz amalgam from 120 ton*; Bailer dredge, 28oz 16d«ae of gold for 116 hours' work ; Hercules, 320z amalgam from 26 tong; Keep It Dark, 1740z amalgam from 156 tone; Progress, 2720z. amalgam from 220 tons. The Matakiaki dredge has been refloated and work will be resumed immediately. The Cocksparrow dredge ia now free of sunken timber, and everything is in first* class order. The Bailer dredge will pay » dividend at the end of February next. The returns from the mines are generally good and may be put down at SQOoz of gold f«r the week.
