(F&BS9 ASSOCIATION TELSOBAMS.) AUCKLAND,. January 26. Mr Cadman and party visited the Uriwera country and were well received by the Natives. He diacuesed the surveying of land, reading, and prospecting for gold. The Natives agreed to the .survey of land of the particular hapue and the roads thereto, but objected to a boundary survey. Mr Cadman said some of those now objecting had written agreeing to a general survey, and stated that surveying would proceed notwithstanding the objection. Care would be takes to send no surveyor woo would be likely to cause trouble. Arrangements were made for the erection of a Native slshool, and a prospecting party was sent inland for a ten-days' excursion at the invitation of the Natives. I WELLINGTON, January 27. The Government has agreed to give a site for saltwater baths at the Thorndon end of the town at peppercorn rental, if the charge for admission is fixed at a low rate, and the work carried out unreasonable time. Judge Oliver, the President of the Lands Appeal Court of New South Wales, who is now in the colony on private business, is commissioned by his Government to enquire into the cultivation of trout, and the administration of the fisheries here. . He is also making enquiries into the village and form settlements scheme, and the means adopted for acquiring land for settlement. Some 800 applications have been received for cheap money, and 100 valuations have been ordered. The work of dealing with the applications has been somewhat checked throagh the Public Trust Office being, in process of removal to new Quarters in the Government Insurance Buildings. . . The Times says that a woman's paper is to be started in Wellington shortly. It is to be managed and edited by women. It will be carried on in the Independent Liberal interest and will be of a social and political character.
