ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

At Timaru last evening two eailore had a quarrel, and one shot the other in the abdomen with a pistol. The injured man is said to be in a dangerous state. *A. boy abont ten years of age, named George Aitchison, who resided with his parents in Carlyle street, Sydenham, sustbined a fracture of both bones of his left arm last evening by slipping and falling upon the oilcloth in his bedroom. He was taken to the Hospital, where the injury was attended to, and he then went home again, with his parents. v A man named James O'Brien, aged eighty-four, who followed the occupation of a chimney sweep, was found drowned about half-past ten yesterday morning in the tank used for fire extinction purposes, in Victoria etreet. The body was discovered by a young man named Whitley, who gave information to the police, aud Sergeant Wilson had the body removed to the Gladstooe Hotel. The deceased was of stalwart build, and -m&s well known about town. Two years ago* he attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the bead with a pistol. - An inquest will be held at halfpast nine this morning. • . ■
