THE CENTRAL DAIRY FACTORY.

TO THH EDITOR OF THE PBKSS. Sir,—l noticed a letter ia a recent issue of your paper from a milk supplier residing { at Oxford, complaining that while the Company have received 100s for some of their butter in the English market suppliers of milk to the above Factory are only receiving 6d per lb for (heir butter, and surmising that the Directors will hay handsome Bum to distribute amongst the suppliers. No) a word about those share* - holders' who put their shoulders to the wheel in the shape of Bank notes, representing shares for the purpose of giving a lift - to what they knew to be a much-needed industry, without) which the small farmers would-have to go to the walL Are these shareholders (non-supplying) to receive no consideration, while the suppliers are reap* ing a golden harvest ? What, I would ask, would be their .position to-day, .had the factories not been etarted throughout the colony? Instead of getting 6d per lb for their butter (skim milk" returned as well) without the trouble of making it, they would probably be receiving /3d. to 4d per lb, and much of that taken in goods. . Last! year, while the suppliers were 'getting big . prices for their butter,' the - poor non* ' suppliers had to stand by, wondering when their turn would come ! My advice to diecontented suppliers is, rest and be ihankful, - --- for you have a good thing.—Yours, &a, A NoN'tiuppunira Shabbholdeb.
