JUNIOR CUP MATCHES.

The Midland and Lancaster Park Clubs commenced a match at Lancaster Park on Saturday, when an even day's cricket was witnessed. The Midland went in first, and Lane and Barnes made a good start, putting up 36 before the former was dismissed for a well got 22. Barnes was bowled for 14 with tbe score unaltered, and of the others C. W. Garrard with 16 and Richards with 72 were the only ones to make double figures, the innings closing for 89. The Park commenced their innings very badly, six wickets being down for 19 runs. Pavitt and Smith then became associated, and the latter being missed through the sun being in the fieldsman's eyes, the pair took the total to 75 before Smith played on, and retired with 33 „ against his name. A little later Pavitt -was caught apd bowled for 31, and the venture closed for 81. The Midland scoied 55 for the loss of three wickets in their second innings, Forayth making 20 and W. G. Garrard 15. Smith, Pavitt and Ronalds divided the wickets for the Park, and Barry, D. Reese, Barnes, and C. W. Garrard for the Midland, and the fielding was good on both sides. The United and Warehousemen also started a match at' Lancaster Park. The United went in first, and Ross was bowled with the score ac 6. Perry and Rolleston took the total to 58, when the latter was bowled for a freely hit 35. Vincent assisted Perry to take the score to 100, when the latter was bowled for 36. Vincent made 34, E. J. Cotterill 31, Kitto 34 not out, Hall 17, and Limbie 13, and batting one man short the innings closed for 222. Quinn, Whittle and Mallouk were the most successful bowlers, and the fielding was poor. The Warehousemen made a poor stand against the bowling of Rolleston and Kitto, and the total only reached 47, Gibbons makiog 15 and Walsh 10 not out. The Junior Cup match, Addington v St. Albans, was playeft at Hagley Park. The wicket was bumpy. Addington .won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 62, D*y 16 being top scorer. Parkyn, with nve wickets for 25 runs, and J. Frith five fox 28, bowled splendidly. St. Albans replied with 92, J act man's 24 being quite his best effort. Parkyn made 16, Foray th 11, and Ritchie 11. Hadfield took six wickets for 35, and Treloar two for 13. Addington, when time was called, had scored 23 for the loss of one wicket.
