LYTTELTON REGATTA.

The final meetiag of the Committee ia connection with the Lyttolton Regatta of 1895 was held on Wednesday evening, wheu there was a large attendance of members. The chair was occupied by Mr F. Way* month (Commodore of the Regatta). The Chairman explained the steps taken to express to Captain Quinn of the Bank* hatl the Committee's appreciation of his kindueas as master of the flagship. Tne Sub - Committee's action was approved of. The Hon. Treasurer Mr T. I*. Smith presented a statement Qf accounts in connection with the regatta. Owing to the schoouers' race having fallen through the Committee were in a fair finaucial position. It was decided to ' transfer the sum of £50 to the Jubilee regatta deposit account. With regard to this fund it was explained that it) is the intention of the Committee each year if possible to sot aside a sum towards"* holding ' a two or three days regatta at the celebra- , tion of tho jubilee of the province. Tho remaining balance was allowed to stand over with which to start the regatta of 1896. A sub-Committee consisting oi the Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Mayor of LytSelton, Treasurer and Secretary was appointed tc decide upon the best means of fixing the Jubilee Deposit Fund. The matter of importing fireworks for next year's display was discussed, and it was decided to make the display even more attractive by increasing the amount to be devoted to that pur* pose. Accounts amounting to £135 were passed for payment, The sum of £15 15s was voted as a gratuity to the hon. Secretary for services to the regatta of 1895. The very valuable services rendered to the regatta by the hon. Treasurer, Mr T. L. (Smith, were referred to by several of those i present, and a hearty vote of thanks war accorded to that gentleman. Mr Smith, in. replying, expressed the great pleasure it had been- to him to work for the regatta. Votes of thanks were passed to Captain Falconer, Captain Clark, Major Sir A. Douglas, Mr D. Jack, the Assistant hon. Sooretary, the Judges,* and Mr J. Ashley. Stationmaster, in Lyttelton, and al l the officials connected with the regatta* After disposing of other minor matters those present were invited-by the Commodore ta partake of refreshments, and a pleasant hour was spent. During the .evening ft - number of toasts were honoured and special mention was made of the interest taken by the Commodore and Vice-Commodore. , The meeting broke up with cheers for Mr and Mrs Waymouth. ,
