SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
A special meeting of the West Christchurch School Committee was held oa Wednesday evening. Present—Mr W« McClea (Chairman), and Messrs J. W. Sandford, G. Tombs, G. T. Cbisnali, H. Curlett, C. Godfrey, G. Watson, and Dr. Moorhouae. In reference to the circular of the Progressive Liberal Association, it was resolved that it lie on the table. On tho motion ot Mr Curlett, seconded by Mr Tombs, it was resolved —*« This Committee regrets the action of the Board of Education, in rescinding the regulations re corporal punishment without previously consulting the School Committees," Messrs G. Tombs and Dr. Moorhouae were appointed Visiting Committee for the ensuing three months. A special meeting of the East Oxford School Committee was held on Wednesday evening, for the purpose of selecting an assistant mistress in room of Miss F. Petri* resigned. There were eleven applicants for the situation, and the Committee's choice eventually rested with MISS Lena It SmiTih. Publications.
