The Waimate Rifles fired a mitch, Officers v Privates, at the Point Bush range on Thursday last. The conditions were, nine men aside and seven shots at 200, 300 and 500 yards. Privates—W. Nelson 83, Smith 81; G. Jones 78, Bateman 76, Williams 69, A. Inkster 66, Taylor 53, J. C. Hurst 49, W. Kett 12—total, 567.

The following men will represent the Canterbury Engineers in their match against tbe A Company for the associated corps' shield this afternoon :—Captain McGee, Lieutenant Bridgman, Sergeant-Major Midgley, Sergeant* Middleton, Lance-Cor-porals Watts and Smith, Sappers Buntin, Meikleham, Morrow and Parker. Emergencies, Lieutenant Anderson, Sapper Taylor and Lance-Cprporal Swanston. '
