SPRINGS ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeling of the Springs Road Board was held on Monday. Present—All the members. Fourteen tenders were received for shingling Weedon's and claying Goodrich roads, and W. Murphy's at lo_d for shingle and R. McMeekinte at 6d per yard for clay were accepted. Correspondence was read from Lincoln School Committee, referring to the state of the riVer through the Lincoln. Domain. The Board, having previously given Mr Moffatt, the miller,'notice to clean the river, resolved that Mr Moffatt be -further informed that if the river was not cleaned satisfactorily within fourteen days as far as affected by the mill dam, the Board would take steps to have the dam removed. From the Railway Department acknowledging receipt of Board's application for a crossing over the railway near Rabbit Island, advising that the application would be considered. The circular from the Selwyn County Council with reference to the maintenance of the road and bridge over the Halsweil river near Rabbit Island was considered, and it was decided to inform the Council that this Board would contribute half the cost of the maintenance of the road and one-third the cost of the maintenance of the bridges provided they were pnt in good repair before the alteration took effect. The Clerk was instructed to apply to the County Council for the amount spent by the Board in purchasing blackbirds and small birds during the winter ; and it was also decided to purchase heads and eggs of small birds at 2d per dozen. With reference to the gorse question, it was reported that the adjourned case against Mr Brittan was heard on the 21st, and was further adjourned for thirteen weeks in order that the whole of. the gorse should be cleared ; and the Clerk was instructed to take action against others. not ■ having complied with notices if their gotse was not cleared within fourteen days.
