(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, October 23. The annual report of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, which is to be presented at the meeting of delegates at Wellington, on the 3lst Ootober, states that the past season has been marked by increased activity amongst oarsmen io nearly every part of New Zealand. This was especially the oaae in Otago, where old Clubs have shown fresh vigour and new Clubs have made rapid progress. It is reasonable to suppose that this advance is due to the dago Clubs having joined the Association, thereby settling many points of diffetenca between them, such as amateur definition, regatta regulations, See The high standard of rowing which has always been characteristic of Canterbury, has been fully maintained, and resulted in three of the four Championships going to that district. The balance-sheet for tbe year shows a small credit balance. The publication of tbe Rowing Almanac resulted in a financial loss, as it was not supported by the olubs. Tbe Awarua Boating Club, Bluff, applies for membership. Messrs VI/. H. Smith and R. H. Dixon (Awarua Boat* ing Club), J. Goodall (North End Boating Club, Dunedin), John Keenan, Porter and ! Johnston (Queen's Drive Boating Club, Port Chalmers), apply for reinstatement as amateurs.
