CATHEDRAL LECTURES.

mo THB BDJTOR Ot THE I'BBSS..' Sir, —Aβ one of those who was privileged to hear the very able ' and ; instructive inaugural lecture, delivered by the Rev. Walter Harper in the Cathedral last Thursday evening, and being very jnuch impressed with the thought of how much the young men in this city might benefit themselves if they would only devote one hour once a week to attending these lectures, I venture to urge them through your columns to avail themselves of the opportunity now afforded them. Mr Harper's lectures are in a free, unconventional style? the complete grasp he has of the subject he handles carries his hearers right along with him ; he gives unmistakable evidence of his extensive reading and of the care he has bestowed in preparation. Men of all classes and of all denominations might find in these lectures much to strengthen and to encourage them, much which might help to remove some of the clouds and shadows which perplex and darken so many thoughtful minds in these days.—Yours, &a., CoSMOPOJjIT&JS. *" September 30th. i"
