ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 10. An inquest on the body of Hogau, who died in the train last night as it was coming to New Plymouth, was Dot deemed necessary as the man was known to be dying. His body was taken to Auckland by the Takapuna this morning. GISBORNE, March 11. Stephen B. Hair, whilst riding, had a fit and was thrown from his horse, sustaining concussion of the brain. His condition is critical.
A man named Somerset, employed at the Belfast Freezing Works had one of his hands accidentally crushed between the compressors of the new freezing machinery on Saturday. His hand was lacerated and an artery ruptured. He was taken to the Hospital and his injuries were attended to. Mrs Courtenay, residing at Bingsland, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday, suffering from injuries to one of . her hands, caused by falling on some broken glass. A man named Jordan was taken to the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday, in order to have a scalp wound attended to. The injury was caused by a fall in the street. Two young men named respectively Barlow and Whitfield, the former, employed in the Lyttelton Times office, and the latter residing at Sydenham, met with au accident at Sumner yesterday. Their boat capsized off the jetty and they'had to cling to it until rescued by Pilot Day and three others who off to their assistance.
