ASHLEY COUNTY v GERALDINE. A match came off yesterday at Geraldine between a local Eleven and the Ashley County team. The game was doubly interesting, ia view of the final Champion Cup .natch between Geraldine aud Timaru, which will be played at Temuka ou Thursday next. The Juuior Cup match, Addington v Lancaster Park, was finished on Wednesday night, the Park winning by one wicket. The scores are as follows :—Park 99 and 137 for nine wickets, Steeds 28 and 27, Brooke 15 and 25, Johnston 13 aud 15 not out, E. Waller 11, and Wheeler 7 not out. Addington 92 and 143; Day 25, McMurray 33 not out, Malone 18 and 12, Ellis 21, Hadfield 17 and Waimsley 44. The bowling for the Park was done by Smith, Johnston, Hawkins and Waller, and for Addington by j McMurray, Malone and Hadfield. PRESIDENT'S CUP MATCH The match between Addington and United was continued on Wednesday evening, and resulted in a win for the former by 65 runs. The scores were—Addington 116 and 97 (Freeman 47, Ashby 41, Wrijjht 21, j Treloar 17), United 50 and 93 (Vincent 14, not out, and 23, Wilson 25, and G. Weston 13). A pleasant game was played yesterday at Lancaster Park between a combined Eleven from the Orlando and Tauranga and a team of the Lancaster Park Club, a close finish resulting in a win for the men-of-war by 9 runs two minutes before time. The scores were:—Orlando and Tauranga 144 (Lieut. Abdy 62, Lieut. Corbett 29, Capt. Lang 20, Coggins 13), Lancaster Park 135 (Lafferty 41, Bates 33, "Browne" 20, Meares 11). For the visitors Crook took four wickets for 51, Sheen three for 40, Coggins two for 16, Tajlor one for 12, and Robb none for 10. Blake not out 54, G. Dickenson 10, W. Longdin 10). The Council's team made only 40 (J. Foster 13). The match being decided on the first innings the Veterans were the winners by 59 ruuß. In bowling Blake and Merrin did best for the Veterans, and Costin, Reynolds and Scott for Rangiora. Mr J. Sansom (Mayor) provided afternoon tea and refreshments. The teams lunched at the Red Lion Hotel. The day was fine, and both aides enjoyed themselves greatly, the pleasure of the visitors being enhanced by the kindness and attention of the Mayor and Councillors, who did all in their power to make the outing enjoyable. The ages of the Veterans, it may be said, range from between fifty and sixty to upwards of seventy-eight years, their opponents being considerably younger.
