FIRE BRIGADES' DEMONSTRATION.
(press association tklboram. ) NAPIER, March 8. The weather was threatening for the second day of the Fire Brigades' competition, but the rain held off. The attendance of the public was small. Nothing worthy of special mention waa done. The Ladder Competition event was completed in four rounds, the final result being—Napier, £6, first; Timaru, £4, second; Palmerston North, £3, *.hird; 'Masterton, £2, fourth. Ambulance Competition for five men. The patient in this case was 100 yards from the starting point, and was to he treated for fractured lower jaw, with profuse bleeding. Christchurch having now won the manual engine events two years in succession, the Association's shield becomes their property. Napier is now leading for the aggregate. Two events remain to be dec'ded in the morning.
