NORTH CANTERBURY HOSPITAL BOARD.

An ordinary monthly meeting of the North Canterbury Hospitalßoard was held at 2 p.m. yesterday, when there were present— Messrs VV. Moor (Chairman), H. W. Peryman, J. Hamilton, VV. Boag, R. H. Parish, J. Ronnie, W. Langdown, VV. Dun lop, E. Mulcock, C. M. Gray, and H. Y. Widdowson. Owing to Mr Moor suffering from indisposition Mr Peryman took the chair. The House Committee reported as under : —'" Your Commibtee met in conjunction with the architect, and carefully considered in detail the specifications for the Nurses' Home. These were approved and adopted, aud tenders directed to be colled, returnable on the sth March. Your Committee subsequently meb the Hon. VV. P. Reeves, with the Inspector, Dr. Mac_regor, to whom were submitted the plans, which, after examination, were approved aud subsequently sigued, and satisfaction was expressed at tenders being called for the work. Through the beneficence of the agents and commander, the splendid steamship Gothic has been made the medium of a considerable addition to the building fund of the Home, when that noble vessel was opened to the public for inspection at a small charge. No doubt the Board will express its sense of ita obligation in suitable terms. Ou Thursday next a fete will be held in the grounds in aid of the fund, various kinda of amusements will be given and refreshments provided. It is hoped the public will largely attend; no charge for admission will be mode, but donations will be thankfully received. Aa the time lor obtaining supplies for the ensuing year baa arrived, your Committee asks authority for calling for and accepting tenders subject to your approval. During the month 114 patients were admitted, 89 discharged, 11 died, leaving 91 remaining in the Hospital. The receipts for the month of January were :—St. Albans Borough, £13 15a; Sydenham Borough, £92 8s 3d; Liuwood Borough, £26 Is ; Selwyn County, 269 ; Akaroa County, £20 6s 7d ; Mandeville and Rangioi a Road Board, £65 18s 4d; Patients' Fees, £39 6s 6d ; donation Miss Tripp, £50. Total, £676 15s Bd. The expenditure was £655 0s ILL The report was adopted. On the motion of Mr Grat, seconded by Mr Rennie, it was uuauimously resolved— ''Thar, the Board desires to place on record its grateful appreciation of the kindness of Captain Jeuuiugs, the agents and the officers of the s.s. Gothic in placing that handsome vessel at the disposal of the Board on the 22nd instant, and the courtesy shown towards the members of the Board aud the substantial sum raised in aid of the Nurses' Home."

It waa resolved that a special meeting of the Board be held at 10.30 a.m. on the Hist inst., for the purpose of receiving tenders for the erection of the Nurses' Home, the ordinary mouthly meeting to be held after the special business is transacted. Mr Rknnie gave notice to'move—" Tbat the mouthly meetings of the Board be held on the last Wednesday instead of the last Monday in the month.-' The Board tueu adjourned.
