SMALL BIRD PEST.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir, —Through your columns I beg to call the attention of the local bodies to the necessity of something like united and uniform action in suppressing the bird pes.. Here are two adjoining Road Board districts. The South Rakaia Board pays two shillings per hundred for birds' eggs or heads, while the Ellesmere Road Board pays only eight pence per hundred. Result, a happy hatching ground and the encouragement of smuggling. —Yours, &c, J, Lambie.
