TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS.
Sib,—ln your report of the City Council meeting held Ust Monday night you Btate several names of cab-drivers who applied for renewals was held over, and among them appeared my name, and the Chairman of the Bye-law Committee remarked that those applications held over were for misconduct. Upon making enquiry as to the charge referred to I was, told that I was summoned last August for driving without .lights ,on tne Lincoln road. So that your readers will form a bettsr idea of the meaning of the word misconduct than the By-law Committee appears to have I write this explanation, because the meaning of the word misconduct has a far worse meaning than what the charge against mc is. My offence is a breach of the City by-law for not carrying two lights. As it happened when the accident occurred I only had one light. As I have to make my living out of the public I think I am quite justified in defending a statement Chat greatly affects my character and my business. By inserting the above statement your readers will be better able to judge my position with regard to the explanation made by the By-law Committee.
